Francis Fukuyama to present lecture series at MSU

Francis Fukuyama, author of “The End of History and the Last Man” and “America at the Crossroads: Democracy, Power, and the Neoconservative Legacy,” will visit Michigan State University to deliver a series of four lectures.

 

Fukuyama’s lecture series, “Getting to Denmark: Where the State, Rule of Law, and Accountable Government Come From,” is sponsored by the LeFrak Forum and Symposium on Science, Reason, and Modern Democracy in the Department of Political Science at MSU. All lectures begin at 8 p.m. in the Kellogg Center Auditorium and are free and open to the public.

 

The lectures are:

  • Nov. 18 - “Political Development and Political Decay: An Overview”
  • Nov. 19 - “The Origins of the State: China and India”
  • Jan. 27 - “The Origins of the Rule of Law: Europe and the Middle East”
  • Jan. 28 - “The Origins of Accountable Government”

Francis Fukuyama is Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University, and director of SAIS’ International Development program. He has written widely on issues relating to democratization and international political economy.
