Wilson and Birch roads will be closed for steam distribution and road reconstruction starting mid-January 2009 through August 2009. This project involves replacing the deteriorating direct buried steam lines (installed in 1953) with a new steam tunnel, installing communication duct lines for fiber optics, and reconstructing Birch Road (from Shaw Lane to Wilson Road) and Wilson Road (from Harrison Road to the East Wilson Hall entrance loop). This road reconstruction will improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists by adding bicycle lanes and improving the crosswalk areas.
