Starbucks president, other industry execs to discuss global branding strategies at MSU business forum

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is featuring Starbucks president of Global Consumer Products and Detroit native Gerry Lopez as this year’s Broad Executive Forum keynote speaker.

The 42nd annual event will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the MSU Management Education Center in Troy, and the day’s topic is “Going Grande: Brewing Your Global Brand.”

“Marketing and branding permeates all areas of business today, so our program is a great opportunity for corporate leaders to learn more about this,” said Robert Duncan, the Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean of MSU’s Eli Broad College of Business. “We strive to bring timely topics to our alumni and friends, and this year is no exception.”

During the afternoon panel discussion, company leaders and industry experts will share their strategies to expand corporate brands in the challenging global marketplace. The panel moderator is Gil Harrell, professor of marketing at the Eli Broad College of Business, and panel members include:  

  • Gary Corbin, president, Marketing and Sales Executives of Detroit (MSED) and managing director of Michigan Business Development, Accenture
  • Jamie Evans, vice president, Gyro Creative
  • Edward Peper Jr., Chevrolet general manager, General Motors Corp.
  • Jonathan Weisberg, director, Mobile Electronics, Visteon  

The day will start at 2:30 p.m. with a faculty-led workshop conducted by Kenneth Boyer, MSU professor of supply chain management, followed by a panel discussion, reception and dinner. The keynote address will immediately follow dinner, and a coffee reception will cap off the evening program.
