EAST LANSING, Mich. The Michigan State University Board of Trustees today re-elected David Porteous to a second two-year term as board chairman.

Porteous, who has served on the board since 1998 and as chairman since 2002, was re-elected by a unanimous vote. The board also named Joel Ferguson vice chairman, also for a second two-year term.

Porteous, of Reed City, who graduated cum laude from MSU in 1974, said it was a privilege to again serve as chairman of the board.

This is a time of great momentum for our university and Im honored to be re-elected chairman, Porteous said. Over the next two years we face many challenges and opportunities. Im looking forward to working with my colleagues on the board and the administration to assure that MSU remains responsive to the needs of our students and all of the people we serve.

Cooley Law School in Lansing in 1977, studied international law at Oxford University in England and completed the Russian Language Program at Yale University.
