EAST LANSING, Mich. The Michigan State University-University of Michigan game ball is going to travel about 950,000 yards before it is kicked off at noon on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Spartan Stadium.

MSU fraternity Sigma Nu and sorority Alpha Phi are raising money for the Capital Area United Way (CAUW) by running the game ball from Ann Arbor to East Lansing, where the game will take place.

Our partnership has been wonderful, said Theresa Stevens, CAUW donor relations and communications representative. MSU and the Greek system have been very good to us.

The 19th annual Sigma Nu run will begin Thursday night when a bus will pick up the participants at Sigma Nu and take them to Ann Arbor, where they will start their run at about 10:45 p.m.

Representatives from Sigma Nu and Alpha Phi will deliver the ball at midfield to MSU President Peter McPherson; Michael Brown, CAUW president; John Zaworski, CAUW campaign chair; and Craig Gunn and Jeff Brodie, co-chairs of the MSU Community Charitable Campaign.

CAUW will also present the check with the proceeds from the run at this time. The money will be used to fund programs in the tri-county area.

CAUW is a nonprofit organization that strives to unite people and resources to solve defined problems and improve the quality of life for individuals and families in need.
