EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University today announced it has adopted the ANGEL online course management system. ANGEL, an acronym for A New Global Environment for Learning, is a Web-based, enterprise course management system developed by CyberLearning Labs.
With ANGEL faculty can manage course material and communicate quickly, easily and effectively. ANGEL is designed to be used as a complement to traditional courses and for distance learning.
"We believe that ANGEL will serve Michigan State well for course management and support of administrative processes and group work," said David A. Gift, vice provost for libraries, computing and technology at MSU.
The software provides a complete set of easy-to-use teaching and learning features that are open to adaptation. ANGEL's unique combination of capabilities has made it one of the fastest-growing enterprise course management systems available.
"CyberLearning Labs looks forward to working with Michigan State University and helping the university achieve its teaching and learning objectives with ANGEL," said Christopher Clapp, CyberLearning Labs' president and CEO. "It's exciting for us to provide tools to effectively enhance education at small and large institutions alike.
"We are proud of ANGEL's ability to serve Michigan State University and Pennsylvania State University, two of the largest degree-granting institutions in the country, as well as our many smaller customers, some with fewer than 1,000 students."
CyberLearning Labs, Inc. develops and markets ANGEL, the open, enterprise course management system. ANGEL's open architecture is unique in the marketplace. ANGEL is the only enterprise system that provides a complete set of easy to use features that institutions can extend to meet their specific needs. CyberLearning Labs grew out of Indiana University's Advanced Research and Technology Institute after faculty at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis developed ANGEL.
Founded in 1855 as the nation's first land-grant university, MSU serves more than 44,000 students and places a great emphasis on excellence in undergraduate education. The curriculum now includes more than 200 programs of undergraduate and graduate studies in 14 degree-granting colleges and MSU-DCL College of Law.
