EAST LANSING, Mich. - Heidi Campbell of Midland, a senior studio art major at Michigan State University, is the winner of the 10th annual Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center holiday card design contest.

Campbell, daughter of Craig and Pat of Midland, is a 1999 graduate of H. H. Dow High School. Following graduation from MSU in May, she plans on attending graduate school in student affairs and higher education administration to become a member of the academic community.

"I used 'May Your Season Be Bright' as the slogan and a green background with two lights to create a seasonal card that would appeal to people across religions," Campbell said. "Having my card design selected is an immense honor because it will represent the Kellogg Center to so many people."

Joel Heberlein, Kellogg Center general manager, said the card was chosen based on creativity, original look and its appeal to all audiences. It will be mailed to more than 2,000 patrons and area businesses.

"This contest has become a tradition and we look forward to the entries each year," said Heberlein. "We are promoting the quality student resources we have in our own backyard and are displaying the work of our future stars."

Heberlein said he has noticed over the past decade that students are using technology to their advantage while still keeping their originality.

For her creative efforts Campbell receives dinner for two at the Kellogg Center State Room.

At MSU, Campbell is the student director of the College of Arts and Letters Alumni Board of Directors, a recipient of the Robert L. Fiore Student Book Scholarship and a member of Aspire, an organization that supports the Kresge Art Museum. She was also a residence hall mentor, a member of the Residential Option in Arts and Letters (ROIALS) program in Abbott Hall and has been on the dean's list since she was a freshman.

"My main artistic interests are in 3-D sculpting with metal castings, glass blowing and thrown ceramics on the pottery wheel," said Campbell. "In the future I may return to MSU to get my master's degree in studio art to teach art education, but for now I make artwork because I love creating pieces and giving them as gifts."
