MSU SENIOR CLASS HONORS FACULTY, STAFF, STUDENTS

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University's Senior Class Council will recognize the achievements of faculty, staff and students at an awards program this Sunday, April 1.

Special awards will be presented to three faculty and staff members, and 24 graduating seniors at the program, which begins at 1 p.m. at the East Lansing Marriott.

Faculty members to receive Outstanding Faculty awards for their exceptional dedication to students and the learning process are:

  • Thomas Adams, professor of physiology and associate chairperson for undergraduate education in the College of Natural Science; and
  • Robert Herner, professor of horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Carlos Fuentes, assistant director of Career Services and Placement/Service Learning Center, will be honored with the Outstanding Staff Award, which is presented to an MSU employee who demonstrates outstanding commitment, love and service to the MSU community.

MSU senior Prashant Vaishnava of Okemos will receive the Chuck Kaplan Award, which is presented in honor of Kaplan, an MSU graduate and former Senior Class Council member who died in 1996. Nominees must exhibit a strong sense of humanitarianism and a genuine love for life.

A total of 24 students will receive Outstanding Senior Awards for extraordinary extracurricular and academic achievements, leadership, commitment and love for MSU.
