Brianna Makaric is a junior majoring in kinesiology with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation. She is the CEO of BRITE bites.
Growing up I struggled with different nutritional deficiencies and was not satisfied with the snacks on the market. At MSU, I quickly dove into the entrepreneurship programs, beginning with Startup Weekend in February of 2018.
The MSU Hatch, a student business incubator, has been an invaluable resource for BRITE bites. The Hatch is a milestone based program starting with "ideation," then "validation" and finally "launch."
As a Hatch member in the Launch phase, I have access to a team of student interns including photography, graphic design and business development consultants. The Hatch can even provide funding for student startups. I have also worked with the MSU Product Center to do nutritional analysis and finalize our labels and packaging.
Throughout my entrepreneurship journey, I have been able to identify my true passion. I have added the entrepreneurship and innovation minor to my kinesiology degree, and I truly enjoy taking classes that relate so well to my business.
Every day I am pushed to innovate and work smarter. I am extremely grateful for the resources and support Michigan State has provided. Our entrepreneurial ecosystem is globally-recognized, and it is an honor to be a part of it.
