MSU’s Connected Mathematics Project hosting annual conference

The Connected Mathematics Project at Michigan State University will be hosting its 19th annual CMP Users’ Conference on Feb. 19 and 20 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. Presenters from around the nation will lead thought-provoking and insightful conversations around mathematics, teaching, learning and assessing issues related to CMP classes.

The inquiry-based curriculum developed by CMP is aimed at helping middle school students and teachers understand and explore mathematical ideas in depth through a sequenced set of tasks. The project’s primary goal is to improve student reasoning, insight and technical proficiency in math.

The event’s keynote speaker is Valerie Mills, supervisor and mathematics education consultant for Oakland Schools, and immediate past president of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics.
