MSU launches tobacco-free website

The task force charged with guiding Michigan State University to a tobacco-free environment has launched a website to provide background to members of and visitors to the campus community.

The site, http://tobaccofree.msu.edu/, includes frequently asked questions, research and information on cessation resources. Over the next few months, the site will include details on the ordinance to go before the Board of Trustees later this year, a timeline and educational materials, among other sections.

Led by the Office of the University Physician, the MSU Tobacco-Free Task Force is charged with guiding campus and community leadership in the development, adoption, implementation, enforcement and evaluation of a tobacco-free policy at MSU.

While MSU trustees are expected to vote this year on a new ordinance, it likely would not go into effect for another year to give the community time to adjust.

Members of the MSU community can email TobaccoFree@msu.edu with concerns or questions.
