MSU nominates new Cowles House manager

Cowles House, the official residence for the president of MSU, has named Kirsten Kelly as the new manager of the historical campus landmark replacing Peter Lechler, who will be retiring this summer.

Kelly has a keen background in special event management, sales operations and food service, said Joel Heberlein, executive assistant for the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center. 

Kelly began her career in the hospitality industry as an assistant manager with the Kent County Club in west Michigan before moving on to other managerial positions. This included an administrative role for the senior management team at Wuskowhan Players Club and a clubhouse Manager for the Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor; her last position before joining the Cowles House. 

Kelly is expected to start mid-summer of 2014. Her duties will include overseeing major events in coordination with the MSU President¹s Office, supervising and training the Cowles House team members and monitoring the direction of events and services.
