iCER to celebrate installation of new supercomputer

MSU’s Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research will celebrate the launch of its latest supercomputer with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. March 14 in room 3405A of the Engineering Building.

The computer, a product of the institute’s High Performance Computing Center, has enough power to run 110 homes or 330,000 iPhones.

“I am excited that everything is bigger, stronger, and faster,” said Dirk Colbry, director of the HPCC. “That significantly shortens the time to discovery.”

Anyone interested in partnering with or learning more about the HPCC is encouraged to attend tours of the department that follow a brief presentation by Kennie Merz, iCER’s director. More information about the tours can be found here.
