The MSU Honors College is proud to announce the first-of-its-kind artwork donation from Gwen and Jerry Paulson.
The American craft artwork collection was revealed to the public during a reception on April 11.
Gwen Paulson is a 1966 graduate of the MSU Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in history. She worked on Medicare and private health insurance legislation, including COBRA health insurance, as a congressional professional staff member and later opened her own health care government relations company.
After working in Washington, D.C., for many years, she is now a professional certified career and leadership coach.
Jerry Paulson graduated from Duke University with a medical degree and is a pediatrician, children’s environmental health advocate and has dual full professor status in the George Washington University’s Schools of Public Health and Medicine.
“Jerry and I donated some of our contemporary artwork to the Honors College to enhance the students’ learning experience and to expose more people to American craft,” Gwen Paulson said. “I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity MSU afforded me as an undergraduate and believe there are no limits to what the institution can achieve.”
In addition to the artwork, Gwen Paulson has also set up a planned gift, worth $250,000 to the Honors College, to establish a scholarship.
“We are immensely grateful to Gwen and Jerry for sharing their passion for art with the students of the Honors College and the community at large,” said Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the MSU Honors College. “As our building is steps away from the Broad Art Museum, we welcome the public to view the fine glass and wood pieces in our student lounge.”
The artwork is available for public viewing on the second floor lounge of Eustace-Cole Hall, which is a short distance from the Broad Art Museum on East Circle Drive. The lounge is open during normal business hours.
