MSU Community Music School invites greater Lansing residents to attend its open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 19 to enroll or learn more about the classes and lessons offered to students of all ages, birth through adulthood.
Throughout the open house there will be walk-in music therapy sessions and an instrument “petting” zoo that will give those in attendance the opportunity to try a variety of instruments. Visitors also will be able to tour the percussion studio and keyboard laboratory. Additionally, the open house includes early childhood music demonstrations at 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m., a beginning strings demonstration at 3:45 p.m., and other class demonstrations including Suzuki Flute at 4:45 p.m. and Clarinet for Little Ones at 4:15 p.m. The Suzuki strings group will perform at 3:15 p.m., and Suzuki method orientation and information sessions will be offered at 4:15 p.m. and 5 p.m.
“The Community Music School has something for everyone and the open house is a great time to check out CMS programming,” said Jaime DeMott, Director of CMS. “We offer programs for adults, teens, and children with all levels of musical experience and with all levels of ability, including people with special needs.”
Students may enroll for classes or lessons during the open house. CMS offerings include private and group lessons, adult and children’s choirs, early childhood music, music therapy, folk music, beginning band for adults, rock music, string ensemble and Suzuki strings, piano and flute.
