CATA's Spartan Service concludes as students gear up for winter break

CATA prepares to implement its winter break schedule on a number of routes beginning Dec. 15. Spartan Service routes operating on MSU’s campus will conclude for the break as follows:

Weekday MSU Campus Service: Routes 30-33 and 39 will conclude service at their usual times Friday evening and Saturday morning, Dec. 12 and 13.

Night Owl: Curb-to-curb campus service will be available until the regular time of 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Weekend MSU Campus Service: Routes 34, 35, 36 and Lot Link will operate in accordance with regular Saturday and Sunday service schedules through 2 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15.

In addition to all MSU campus service concluding, Spartan Service levels provided on Routes 1, 23, 25, 26 and Entertainment Express will end and reduced service levels will be in place as described below. Route 1 Downtown Lansing /Meridian Mall: During the holiday break, Friday and Saturday late-night Spartan Service will not operate. Service ends at 11:35 p.m. with the last bus departing Meridian Mall at 11 p.m. en route to the CATA Transportation Center.

Entertainment Express: On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during the break, CATA’s popular trolley service will continue to be available for travel to destinations along the Grand River Avenue/Michigan Avenue corridor. Entertainment Express will operate less frequently-every 30 minutes rather than every 15 minutes-between downtown Lansing and downtown East Lansing from 7:30 p.m. until 3 a.m. during the break.

Routes 20 – 25: During the break, Routes 20, 22 and 23 will travel into the MSU-CATA Transportation Center located at Ramp 1 across from Shaw Hall. Routes 24 and 25 will continue to serve Ramp 5 on Red Cedar.

Route 12 W. Michigan/Waverly/LCC West: Buses will not travel west of Waverly Road (no service to LCC West). Weekday frequencies will change to every 45 minutes most of the day and evening.

Route 20 South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel: Buses will travel into Spartan Village on all trips.

Route 23 MSU/Okemos/Haslett: Weekdays between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., buses will run less often—every 35-45 minutes rather than every 25 minutes.

Route 25 North Harrison: Weekday buses will operate every 60 minutes during the day rather than every 30 minutes. Evening and weekend service will remain the same.

Route 26 Abbot/Chandler: Weekday buses will operate every 45 minutes rather than every 6 to 10 minutes and conclude earlier--at 7:20 p.m. at the MSU-CATA Transportation Center located at Ramp 1. There will be no Thursday, Friday or Saturday late-night service to downtown East Lansing. Saturday and Sunday service will continue to operate every 40 minutes, with Saturday trips ending earlier--at 7:10 p.m. at the MSU-CTC.

Spartan Service resumes Jan. 12, 2015: Lot Link will resume campus service at 3 p.m. Jan. 11, and run until 2 a.m. Jan. 12 when Night Owl returns to service. The remaining Spartan Service provided on Routes 1, 23, 25, 26, 30 – 36, 39 and Entertainment Express will resume Jan. 12.
