D Andre McKissic, a junior at Mason High School, was selected as the winner of the 21st annual Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center Holiday Card Design Contest.

D Andre’s design will appear on more than 1,900 cards sent out to clients of the Kellogg Center and Michigan State University’s Spartan Hospitality Group.

The design features a young girl in a green and white snowsuit, kneeling outside and crafting the familiar Spartan “S” in the snow. A “Happy Holidays” greeting appears in the drawing’s background.

“My passion for art developed as a way to help deal with trying times earlier in my life,” said D Andre, who also mentioned the importance of the support and encouragement from mentors including his father and Mason High School art teacher Yalonda Combs. “These people inspired me and I can rely on them for creative fuel and positive feedback for my art.”
