Education professor recognized as emerging leader

Dorinda Carter Andrews, associate professor in the Department of Teacher Education, has been selected to receive the 2013-14 Phi Delta Kappa Emerging Leader award.

The award is given each fall to an up-and-coming professional under the age of 40 making significant contributions to the education field.

Carter Andrews engages students on critical issues of racial, ethnic and cultural inequalities in student achievement. The award recognizes her as an agent of change and innovation.

As part of the award, Carter Andrews will spend two days in Washington, D.C. this December for professional development with other policymakers and officials from the Department of Education.
