Community Music School relocates

The MSU Community Music School has relocated to 4930 S. Hagadorn Road in East Lansing. It opened its doors for classes Jan. 7.

The new location gives MSU students and community members of all ages a centrally located hub for extracurricular music education and music therapy. The school currently serves 3,000 community members annually.

CMS had leased space from the East Lansing Public Schools for the past 10 years, but the building, located on Timberlane Street in East Lansing, was recently sold to the University Reformed Church, which necessitated the move.

“This exciting new location for CMS will allow for greater participation from the MSU community and from the Greater Lansing Community, as it is on a bus route,” said Rhonda Buckley, executive director of CMS. “With its location on Hagadorn Road, the visibility will allow us to roll out some new, exciting programs and collaborations with the campus and the community that we look forward to announcing soon,” continued Buckley. “We think our students will be delighted with the new space.”

Community members are invited to attend the spring open house from 3-5 p.m. on Jan. 20 to see the new space and explore the school’s offerings.
