Psychology professor honored by national association

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Robin Miller, professor of psychology at MSU, will be honored by the American Evaluation Association with its 2011 Robert Ingle Service Award on Nov. 4 in Anaheim, Calif.

Miller has served in many roles and prestigious posts for the AEA and broke new ground on two substantial fronts.

She transformed AEA’s annual conference from a small intimate gathering of professionals and colleagues to an international gathering that today attracts more than 2,500 attendees worldwide. She also oversaw the conversion of the AEA’s print-only journal, the American Journal of Evaluation, into an electronic alternative that has experienced an increased number of editorial submissions, a greater diversity of content reviewers and impressive gains in subscribership worldwide.

AEA is an international professional association that comprises more than 7,000 members worldwide. Miller is being recognized for her more than 15 years of active service. She served as AEA’s program chair from 2000-2003, as associate editor for the American Journal of Evaluation from 2001-2004 and was appointed editor-in-chief for two consecutive terms, serving from 2005-2009.

Miller will be honored at AEA’s annual conference, Evaluation 2011, in California.

Rebecca Campbell, who’s also a psychology professor at MSU, nominated Miller for the award, noting in particular her contributions to strengthening AEA’s annual conference program and working with SAGE to spearhead an electronic submission and review process that streamlined journal production and increased its popularity and usability.
