Michigan State University’s Department of Theatre will perform Jaclyn Backhaus’ “Men on Boats” Nov. 9-11 and Nov. 13-18 in the Studio 60 Theatre at the MSU Auditorium.

The play, directed by Ann Folino White, reimagines the exploits of Major John Wesley Powell and his crew as they went on the first official government-sponsored expedition of the Grand Canyon. “Men on Boats” offers a contemporary perspective on the history of male conquest and westward expansion.

There will be a director pre-show discussion at 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 11 and a post-show discussion following the Nov. 13 performance.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $13 for seniors and faculty and $10 for students and can be purchased at the Wharton Center’s website.
