Two MSU administrators honored with Research Administrator Award

MSU’s research administration offices of Sponsored Programs Administration, Office of Sponsored Programs and Contract and Grant Administration named Lori Bramble, research coordinator of the AgBioResearch Office of Research Support in MSU’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Teresa Thomas, research administrator of the Office of Research (Flint Campus) in MSU’s College of Human Medicine, as the recipients of the Research Administrator Spotlight Award.

The award was established to encourage excellence and exemplary service modeled through The Spartan Experience by recognizing the professional contributions and quality of service of MSU unit research administrators.  Recognized unit administrators need to play an integral role in advancing MSU’s research mission and leading by example, and the Research Administrator Spotlight serves as recognition of MSU employees and inspiration for others who aspire to such service.

A recommendation panel, which included three faculty (from the Council of Research Deans and Sponsored Programs Advisory Committee) and two SPA/OSP/CGA staff selected Bramble and Thomas to receive this award for the Fall of 2017.

Bramble was nominated for her focus on the "importance of quality faculty proposal submissions and the impact of awards to the faculty, department, college and university," as well as her customer service.

Similarly, Thomas was recognized for her great care in providing “the highest level of service to faculty,” facilitating positive work relationships and bringing “a breadth and depth of knowledge” to her position.

Along with this honor, Bramble and Thomas will each receive a plaque and a financial token of appreciation, and are also featured in the SPA Fall 2017 Newsletter.

“What an honor to receive this award and many thanks to my College for the nomination,” Bramble said.  “I truly enjoy my position in AgBioResearch and appreciate their support as well as the support from SPA, OSP and CGA.”

Thomas expressed her gratitude as well, “Every day brings new opportunities, new challenges and exciting rewards. Research administration is a service-oriented career, and I enjoy helping faculty and MSU succeed.”
