Soccer earns seventh seed in NCAA tournament

MSU men’s soccer earned the No. 7 overall seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, earning a first round bye. In the second round, the Spartans will host the winner of the first round game between Virginia Tech and Air Force at DeMartin Stadium at 1 p.m., Sun., Nov. 19.

The Spartans have lost only one game at DeMartin Stadium in the last two seasons. Virginia Tech and Air Force play their first round game on Thurs., Nov. 16 in Blacksburg, Virginia.

The last time the Spartans earned a first-round bye was in 2014 when MSU was the overall No. 3 seed. The Spartans advanced to the Elite Eight that season before being edged by Providence, 3-2, in East Lansing.
