The Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra offer their first concerts of the season through Michigan State University’s College of Music.
The Wind Symphony, directed by Kevin Sedatole, director of bands, will present at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall. The band will also feature artist-faculty member Joseph Lulloff as soloist on saxophone.
The Symphony Orchestra, directed by Kevin Noe, director of orchestras, will perform at 8 p.m. Friday in Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall.
The Wind Symphony will be performing works by Kolo, Tower, Dahl, Bernstein, Bach and Maslanka. The concert will be given in memoriam to composer David Maslanka, who died in August from cancer at age 73.
The Symphony Orchestra will be performing Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival Overture,” Schubert’s “Symphony No. 5” and Ravel’s “Daphnis et Chloe Suite No. 2.”
Admission is free for students with ID and anyone under the age of 18.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (age 60 and older) and can be purchased online, at the College of Music box office, by calling (517) 353-5340, in person or at the door at Wharton Center.
There will be a $3.50 restoration fee for tickets that are purchased at Wharton Center, via phone, box office or the website. This is not a College of Music fee.
