Boston-bound rowers prepare for two races

No. 17 Michigan State heads to the east coast to take on four of the Boston-area crews in addition to UMass in two weekend races.

The Spartans will be rowing out of Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse for both races. Boston University head coach Stacey Rippetoe is a former Spartan assistant under Matt Weise and spent eight years on the MSU staff, and has been the head coach of the Terriers since 2008.

On Saturday, the Spartans will take on BU, Northeastern and UMass; on Sunday, MSU will go up against No. 16 Harvard and Boston College. All racing is done on the Charles River in Cambridge, which is the home course for all the Boston-Area competitors.
