MSU Law, Zeekbeek, announce launch of new law student directory

Michigan State University College of Law and legal start-up, CloudLaw Inc., the owner and developer of the website www.zeekbeek.com, announced the launch of a new law student directory.

The directory allows law students to create detailed profiles focused on their education, activities and professional accomplishments, and use it to connect with other law students and lawyers.

The directory is free for all law students, and is housed on the same Zeekbeek site as the State Bar of Michigan’s online member directory.

“Our goal is to make the Zeekbeek site a valuable resource for all members of the legal community, including lawyers, legal professionals and law students,” said Bob Aicher, Zeekbeek CEO. “We realized that fields and filters designed for lawyers who are state bar members might not be the most effective way for law students to present themselves online and engage with fellow students and practicing lawyers.”

MSU Law students, working MSU Law’s Center for Legal Services Innovation Director Daniel Linna Jr. and CSO Associate Director Shawn Calabrese, helped develop the directory from initial focus group to launch.

“We want law students to engage with the legal community,” Linna said. “This includes not only traditional networking, but also engaging online. Students should use social media to learn and as part of their professional and career development. The law student directory will be an excellent place for students to do this and grow their online presence.”

Law students can also create or join public or private discussion groups, blog, post articles and videos and link to social media to display their knowledge and communication skills on the Zeekbeek site.
