MSU celebrates Earth Day

The Michigan State University community will come together Wednesday to celebrate Earth Day.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. MSU Sustainability will host the Earth Day Extravaganza at The Rock. The event will feature a variety of activities and giveaways.

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Jackson Lounge of the Wharton Center, MSU will celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day by honoring Spartans who have made significant contributions to on-campus sustainability.

Ten Be Spartan Green Outstanding Awards will be given to staff, students, faculty and campus partners who have demonstrated their support of sustainability on campus. Units that have achieved Green Certification status this year also will be recognized.

Also on Wednesday the MSU Library Environmental Committee will host a special bicycle information open house. The event is from noon to 2 p.m. in the Main Library’s Reference Instruction Room.

The open house will give students, faculty, staff and community members the opportunity to learn about local area bicycling organizations including MSU Bikes, the Lansing Bike Co-op and the League of Michigan Bicyclists.
