MSU's Fairchild Theatre gets a facelift

The MSU College of Music is world class. The musicians, students and instructors alike are remarkable. And now, they have a performance space that matches their spectacular talent.

The Fairchild Theatre has been undergoing renovations since this summer, and reopened Oct. 28.

While the Fairchild was a beautiful performance space to begin with – featuring historic architecture from the 1930 – it became a bit outdated. With the help of Kirkegaard Associates, a construction company based in Chicago, the Fairchild was given a much-needed revamp.

“People make programs, not facilities, but at a certain point, a terrific facility can make that difference,” said James Forger, dean of the College of Music.. “In the case of music, a world-class performance facility greatly assists us in recruiting top flight students and faculty.”
