Donald E. Heller, dean of the College of Education at MSU, has been named to the Board of Trustees of DePaul University in Chicago.
His term on the board, which serves as the governing body for the private university, started this fall and lasts three years.
The board includes 46 members.
“I’ve long been an admirer of the institution because of its mission of providing access to college for so many urban, low-income and first-generation college students,” Heller said. “I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the board of one of the country’s largest private institutions of higher education, and the largest Catholic university in the nation.”
Heller is one of three new members elected. The others are Ruth W. Brinkley, a health care executive, and Sasha Gerritson, an opera director and music instructor.
“The expertise of these new trustees brings valuable perspective to our governing board as DePaul deepens its connections locally and nationally,” said the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, DePaul’s president.
