Faculty conversations: Valeta Wensloff

Valeta Wensloff works as an outreach specialist and internship coordinator for the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media.

She teaches two classes: CAS 204 and CAS 207. In CAS 204, Wensloff focuses on teaching the basics of web design, focusing on the building blocks of HTML and CSS. In CAS 207, she teaches students how to make shapes and how to manipulate and animate art to create Flash graphics.

As the internship coordinator, Wensloff provides students with possible places to intern, and coordinates with other intern supervisors, whether at the university or other businesses. She ultimately facilitates the internship process by touching base with interns and supervisors to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Wensloff says her favorite part of working at Michigan State University is the people. She said she considers herself lucky to have interesting, engaging and – sometimes silly – students.

"The telecommunication department has a lot people who are very intelligent; in fact I really admire them," Wensloff said. "We can talk about games and design, and it is a lot of fun."
