College of Human Medicine students honored for community service

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The MSU College of Human Medicine chapter of the American Medical Association – Medical Student Section received two community service awards at the AMA’s annual meeting June 14 in Chicago.

The college won the Region V volunteerism award for the second consecutive year. Students volunteered more service hours than any other school in their region, which includes 17 medical schools across five states.

The College of Human Medicine also received an award for winning a regional blood drive competition for donating the most units (25) of blood of any medical school in the region during the April 9 drive.

Twenty-three medical students attended the annual meeting, where they took part in professional development workshops and voted as delegates on AMA-MSS policy.
