Golden selected as Spartan Marching Band’s first female associate director
MSU's College of Music and Spartan Marching Band will welcome a new leader to their ensemble - who is also the first woman to hold such a rank. Arris Golden will join MSU as assistant director of bands and associate director of the Spartan Marching Band, effective July 1.

MSU’s Academy for Global Engagement 12 new fellows take on global challenges
MSU Academy for Global Engagement, or AGE, has 12 new fellows are currently working to become the next generation of international research experts at MSU. The fellows focus on the food and pharmaceutical supply chain in addition to emerging plasma science. Their expertise is in improving soil health and smart sensing systems.

Board of Trustees accepts Simon’s resignation; appoints Beekman as acting president
The MSU Board of Trustees voted at a meeting today to formally accept the resignation of President Lou Anna K. Simon, effective immediately. The board also voted to appoint Bill Beekman, vice president and secretary of the board, as acting president. Beekman is now responsible for all duties associated with the Office of the President.

John Luginsland, professor of electrical and computer engineering and computational mathematics, science and engineering at MSU, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, or IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization for the advancement of technology.
