Homecoming 2019 ‘Spartans Inspire Success’

MSU is celebrating the special skillset Spartans possess to inspire and uplift others during its 2019 homecoming festivities, which is taking place this week.

This year’s theme, “Spartans Inspire Success,” highlights and recognizes the ways in which Spartans are using their education, talents and experiences as tools to uplift and strengthen others.

Susan Packard, former HGTV chief operating officer and MSU alumna, is the grand marshal for MSU’s 2019 Homecoming celebration. Packard, who was in the Honors College, earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in advertising in 1977 and 1979. Through her triumphs in media, written works and continued mentorship, Packard is a Spartan who truly exemplifies what it means to inspire success.

The 2019 Homecoming Court includes nine senior ambassadors across six MSU colleges. The ambassadors were nominated by faculty or university organizations, distinguished for their leadership, community involvement, academic excellence and Spartan pride.

The 2019 homecoming parade begins at 6 p.m. on Sept. 27. A parade livestream will be available for MSU fans unable to attend. After the parade, a post on social media will ask people to choose their People’s Choice for the best parade entry. For details on the parade route, please visit the parade page on the Alumni Association website.

Additionally, colleges across campus will host events throughout the week to honor alumni, the grand marshal and current MSU students.
