Spartans hold first spring scrimmage in Spartan Stadium

The Michigan State football team held its first scrimmage of spring practice on Thursday afternoon under sunny skies and temperatures in the low-40s at Spartan Stadium.

The scrimmage, which utilized a modified scoring system, was 60 plays long (including special teams) and won by the defense, 12-3. The Spartans spent the first portion of the day on the outdoor practice fields behind the Duffy Daugherty Building before scrimmaging in Spartan Stadium.

“You have to watch the film to see how everybody played, but the positive thing is you step back and let people play,” said Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio.
