MSU Bakers offering teal products to honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month

MSU Bakers, the on-campus bakery at Michigan State University, announced a month-long initiative to support Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Throughout April, two special products will be available for purchase, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the MSU Sexual Assault Program, or SAP.

“It’s important that we recognize the situation, support survivors and be a part of the positive cultural transformation on campus,” said Cindy Baswell, bakery manager. “Cupcakes and cookies are our path to do that and we’re honored to provide support to this critical organization.”

The MSU SAP responds to those impacted by sexual violence and works to create a community free of violence and oppression. In addition to counseling, advocacy and support groups for MSU students, a 24-hour crisis line and advocacy services are offered to anyone in the greater Lansing community.

During the month of April, customers can purchase one dozen custom image sugar cookies for $15. Each cookie features a teal ribbon, the international symbol promoting sexual assault awareness. Additionally, one dozen cupcakes with teal and white swirl frosting will be available for $15. For each order placed, MSU Bakers will donate $1 to the MSU SAP.

In addition to fulfilling customer orders, their staff will create special treats for service in residential dining halls on Thursdays in April.

Product delivery is available to on-campus locations at MSU with a $2 delivery fee. Pick up is also available at MSU Bakers, located at 220 Service Road in East Lansing. Call (517) 353-9310 or order online.
