Krista McCallum Beatty named director of OISS

International Studies and Programs at Michigan State University has named Krista McCallum Beatty as the new director of the Office for International Students and Scholars, or OISS, effective Jan. 14, 2019.

OISS provides support to MSU’s more than 8,000 international students, faculty, staff and scholars, as well as their families.

“Dr. McCallum Beatty is a proven leader in the field of international education, and we look forward to her bringing her passion and expertise to MSU,” said Steven Hanson, associate provost and dean of international studies and programs. “Her student- and scholar-centered approach is critical given the importance of international Spartans in the MSU community.”

McCallum Beatty’s career in international education spans more than two decades, and for several universities in and outside the U.S. An active member with NAFSA: Association of International Educators, she was recently director of the International Students and Scholars Office at Iowa State University of Science and Technology. Prior, she spent 10 years as director for International Student and Faculty Services at Ohio University.

“When asked what I do, my reply is that I help the best and brightest students and scholars from around the world succeed,” McCallum Beatty said. “I am excited about the opportunity to develop a shared vision within MSU for how to support the success of Spartan students and scholars and contribute to a globally minded and inclusive campus.”
