MSU’s research administration offices of Sponsored Programs Administration, Office of Sponsored Programs and Contract and Grant Administration award Judy Brown, director of the Office of Research Support in MSU’s College of Natural Science, and Linda Gallagher, business manager of the Department of Entomology in MSU’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources as the recipients of the Unit Research Administrator Spotlight Award.
Brown and Gallagher are being recognized for “demonstrating a significant, positive impact and commitment in providing expert service to Michigan State and serving as an inspiration for others who aspire to such service.”
“Judy’s leadership in the Office for Research Support has made it our most successful and efficient service center,” said Dave Dewitt, senior associate dean in the College of Natural Science. “No other NatSci administrative unit receives more praise and appreciation for the work it carries out from the faculty it serves. Judy has done an outstanding job managing pre-award grant support for the college.”
From Gallagher’s nomination form: “Linda provides expert service to MSU, including faculty/researchers, colleagues, and central offices by putting forth her extensive knowledge and many years of experience to accomplish MSU’s research mission…She is very friendly, always has a positive attitude during correspondence, and is courteous of others.”
Along with this honor, Brown and Gallagher will receive a certificate of accomplishment, a financial award, and will be featured in the Spring SPA Newsletter, which will be released soon.
“I am deeply moved and honored to receive this award,” Brown said. “I believe that I would never have received it without the outstanding work that is done by my staff every day. I changed the direction of my career here at MSU about 10 years ago, and feel that I finally have found my place at the university.”
Gallagher also felt honored to receive the award, “Research administration is a significant and gratifying part of my job, but I couldn’t do it all without the assistance of a great staff. So this award is really a recognition of our entire team!”
