Senior selected as Gates Cambridge Trust Scholarship finalist

Anna Cumming, an Honors College senior majoring in history and political science in the College of Social Science, has been selected as a finalist for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship.

Cumming is a resident assistant and peer educator for MSU’s Sexual Assault Relationship Violence prevention program and a research assistant for Assistant Professor Amy Simon.

She will interview with 104 other U.S. scholars Jan. 26-27.

“Receiving the chance to interview as a finalist for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a tremendous honor,” Cumming said. “I am thrilled to compete for an opportunity to further my education at the University of Cambridge while advocating for survivors of sexual assault. I am thankful for the assistance I have received along the way, including support from the departments of history and political science.”

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation established the Gates Cambridge Trust for the purpose of awarding scholarships to enable the brightest of the world’s young leaders and scholars to undertake graduate work at the University of Cambridge. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying in Cambridge for one to three years of study.
