Muelder Summer Carillon and Music in the Garden series to kick off on June 28

Michigan State University's College of Music will present the 20th Annual Muelder Summer Carillon Series on six consecutive Wednesday recitals.

This series will begin at 6 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning June 28 and continuing until Aug. 2 at the MSU Beaumont Tower -- rain or shine.

The summer schedule is as follows:

June 28 - Amy Johansen, Sydney Univerity, Australia

July 5 - Carol Jickling Lens, University of Denver 

July 12 - James Fackenthal, Chicago

July 19 - Julianne Vanden Wyngaard, Grand Valley State University

July 26 - Jonathan Lehrer, Canada 

Aug. 2 - Ray McLellan, MSU Carillonneur

The MSU College of Music also kicks off its Music in the Garden series on June 28.

The W.J. Beal Botanical Garden plays host to select musical groups presented by the MSU College of Music. The location in the case of rain for all four concerts is the Music Building across the street. 

The MSU Food Truck and Dairy Story ice cream will be available to the audience during the performances.

The summer schedule is as follows:

June 28 Spartan Student Jazz Combo
7 p.m., W.J. Beal Botanical Garden 

July 20 M.I. Concerts Percussion and Flute Duo
Noon, W.J. Beal Botanical Garden

Aug. 25 Brass Tacks Quartet
Noon, W.J. Beal Botanical Garden

Thursday, September 7 Spectra Saxophone Quartet
6 p.m., W.J. Beal Botanical Garden

Each concert series is free and open to the public. Picnics are welcome.
