MSU Greeks welcome trick-or-treaters

Whether it’s the anticipation of creating the perfect costume, visiting haunted houses, carving pumpkins and, of course, trick-or-treating, those memories are part of our childhood nostalgia.

MSU’s Greek community is eager to contribute to memory making through their annual Safe Halloween event, which will take place 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 26 on M.A.C. Avenue between Burcham Dr. and Linden St. The event is free and open to the public.

Safe Halloween is an annual philanthropic event that has been hosted by Michigan State University fraternity and sorority chapters for more than 20 years.  This festive street carnival event provides children and families a safe trick-or-treating alternative in one of MSU’s Greek neighborhoods.

The fun-filled evening will consist of a variety of activities, including face painting, Halloween games, trick-or-treating at the various Greek houses, costume contests, inflatable moonwalk, a reading circle, arts and crafts and much more.  A DJ will also be in attendance playing some family friendly Halloween tunes and local businesses will be handing out trick-or-treat goodies.

“Safe Halloween is all about bringing the community together for a fun and safe holiday event,” said Ellie Small, director of Safe Halloween.  “Not only is it a great evening for trick-or-treaters, but it also provides us with an opportunity to give back and make a difference.”

M.A.C. Avenue between Linden St. and Burcham Dr. will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event.  Free parking will be available at East Lansing High School.
