Writing Center hosts concert to benefit local food bank

The public is invited to a community-wide benefit concert featuring original music by Michigan composers and performed by local choirs at 7:30 p.m. April 14 in Wharton Center’s Great Cobb Hall.

Presented by The Writing Center at Michigan State University and #MidwestHungerIs, the concert will include texts from the #MidwestHungerIs anthology. Admission is free, but donations will be taken at the door for the Greater Lansing Area Food Bank.

The performance is part of The Writing Center’s Community Composing Project, an initiative to bring Greater Lansing Community partners together to address global social issues though writing, and the #MidwestHungerIs initiative, which addresses unique experiences of the Midwest alongside global social justice concerns.

The concert also is being supported in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
