MSU alumni and students are preparing to head to Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Former Michigan State All-American Draymond Green has been named to the 12-man U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team. Green becomes the third Spartan to represent Team USA at the Summer Olympics, joining Magic Johnson (1992) and Steve Smith (2000). Read more at msuspartans.com.
Former Spartan rower Emily Regan will be a part of the U.S. women's eight, which seeks a historic 11th-consecutive world or Olympic title in Rio. Fellow Spartan Christie Daiss, a 2006 graduate, will also head to Rio as part of the medical team, and has been assigned to the athlete village. Read more at msuspartans.com.
Former MSU wrestler Franklin Gomez will be wrestling for Puerto Rico in Rio. He also wrestled in London in 2012. Gomez was a national champion at MSU in 2009.
MSU MBA student Mohamed Hrezi will represent Libya in the Olympic marathon, competing alongside runners from the place he calls home: the United States. Read more from the Eli Broad College of Business.
