MSU Friends of Theatre hosts garden party/open house with Craig Mitchell Smith

MSU Friends of Theatre will host a garden party/open house from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 16 at the home of glass artist Craig Mitchell Smith.

The event will kick off the MSU Friends of Theatre effort to raise $100,000 to permanently endow opportunities for student scholarships, guest artists, production initiatives and Summer Circle Theatre artist fellowships. Guests will enjoy light appetizers and drinks as they stroll through Craig's home and garden and view his world-famous art glass pieces.

Craig Mitchell Smith was raised in Lansing, Michigan and has had a lifelong relationship with nature. Starting his career in scene design, he later ventured into other fields of design, including interior, floral and wedding design. He has appeared on HGTV and exhibited in numerous gardens in Michigan along with Disney Epcot, Norfolk Botanical Gardens, Dow Gardens, the Chicago Garden Show, Orlando International Airport and more. His design studio is in Lansing's Old Town.

Cost for the event is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Online registration is open at theatre.msu.edu or telephone reservations are accepted at (517) 355-6690. The event will be held at 1908 Briarwood Drive in Lansing, Michigan and doors will open at 5 p.m.
