Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame to induct new members

Four new members will be inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame on April 17 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Michigan State University.

The 2016 inductees include travel writer Dixie Franklin, sports photojournalist Julian H. Gonzalez, investigative journalist Lou Mleczko and columnist Rochelle Riley.

MSU’s School of Journalism has been home to the Hall of Fame since 1985.

Established in 1952 and formerly known as the Michigan Newspaper Hall of Fame until 1968, the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame recognizes those who advanced the legacy of a free and responsible press and had a positive impact on journalism in Michigan. Induction memorializes extraordinary and clearly outstanding careers.

This year's Hall of Fame Class will be honored at the 31st annual induction banquet beginning with a 5 p.m. reception. Dinner and the ceremony will follow at 6 p.m.

The deadline for early reservations is April 3, 2016.
