Michigan Farm to School grant application open for 2016-2017

The Michigan Farm to School Grant Program is now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Facilitated by the Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems, the program aims to connect schools to local agriculture and improve the health and wellness of students through funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to Michigan K-12 schools, school districts and early childhood programs to support the purchase of local foods. During the 2015-2016 school year, a total of $36,000 was awarded, and nearly 25,000 children received locally sourced food as a result of this program.

Applications for the 2016-2017 school year are due by 5 p.m. on May 11. For details about the grant program, eligibility and requirements, visit: http://foodsystems.msu.edu/activity/info/farm_to_school
