The Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association recently recognized Michael Atkinson for his work as a banquet crew leader with the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. Atkinson formally accepted his award for the 2016 Food and Beverage Star of the Year on April 18 at the Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference.
The MLTA hosts “Stars of the Industry” annually honoring examples of excellence and leadership in Michigan’s tourism industry.
Atkinson has shared his talents at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center for more than 27 years. Coworkers nominated him for this award because of his attention to detail and interactions with guests.
“One of the areas that I believe is his biggest strengths is that he thinks like an owner,” said Lucretia Mansfield, banquet operations manager for the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. “Mike has helped to take on some additional projects that have made significant impacts on the hotel.”
