International Chamber Soloists featured April 22

The College of Music is pleased to present another concert featuring the International Chamber Soloists led by Dmitri Berlinsky at 8 p.m. April 22 in MSU Auditorium’s Fairchild Theatre.

Part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Showcase Series, this concert will display some of the extraordinary talent of students in the College of Music while celebrating the birth of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky one of Russia’s most popular composers, 176 years ago.

The International Chamber Soloists is a group of College of Music students formed by Berlinsky, artist teacher and professor of violin. As an active chamber musician himself, Berlinsky organized the ensemble with the intention of emphasizing the artistic importance of each member of the group and finding a way to incorporate it in the chamber orchestra setting. His goal was to “nurture musical chemistry, which allows for effortless music making and brings freshness to each performance,” says Berlinsky. The International Chamber Soloists get their name from the diverse blend of musicians in the ensemble with origins from Russia to Taiwan to Uzbekistan. This ensemble has performed in venues across the United States as well as in Canada and Mexico.

Berlinsky came to the College of Music amid a successful career as a soloist. He left Russia for New York and has gained international recognition for not only his musicianship as a soloist and chamber musician, but also as a sought-after teacher. He is the winner of several competitions including the Paganini International Violin Competition, the Montreal International Violin Competition, and the Queen Elizabeth Competition. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras across Europe, Russia, Asia, and North and South America.
