MSU Celebrates 110 years of Shastakovich

  • 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at MSU Auditorium’s Fairchild Theatre

The College of Music is pleased to present the first concert in the 2016-17 Joanne and Bill Church West Circle Series, Shostakovich – 110 Years. Dmitri Shostakovich, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1906, changed how we see music and helped to pioneer the 20th century music era and became one of our most prominent composers. Completing a total of 147 compositions of all types, his music took a stand in the avant-garde style. With his music being performed alongside that of Igor Stravinsky and Alban Berg, he made a significant name for himself.

Admission is free for students with ID and anyone under the age of 18. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (age 60 and older) and can be purchased online, at the College of Music box office, by calling (517) 353-5340 or in person.
