The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus come to Wharton Center

The Concert Band and Soldiers' Chorus of the United States Army Field Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 8 at Wharton Center's Cobb Great Hall.

Brig. Gen. Malcolm Frost, chief of public affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Army, will introduce the performance.

The event is free, but tickets are required. For more information on tickets, visit whartoncenter.com, contact the Auto-Owners Insurance Ticket Office at Wharton Center or call 1-800-WHARTON.

The Concert Band is the oldest and largest of the United States Army Field Band's four performing components. This 65-member instrumental ensemble, founded in 1946, has performed in all 50 states and 25 foreign countries.

The band regularly travels and performs with the Soldiers' Chorus, together presenting a program of marches, overtures, popular music, patriotic selections, and instrumental and vocal solos.

The Soldiers' Chorus, founded in 1957, is the vocal complement of the United States Army Field Band. The 29-member mixed choral ensemble travels throughout the nation and abroad, performing as a separate component and in joint concerts with the Concert Band of the ‘Musical Ambassadors of the Army.’

Earlier in the day, Frost is holding a media roundtable at 10 a.m. at Demonstration Hall, 229 Demonstration Hall Road, home of MSU's Army ROTC. Lt. Col. Jeffrey Winston, chairperson for the Department of Military Science at MSU, also will be in attendance.

Frost will discuss the state of the Army as the force continues to draw down.

Journalists should plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and one form of photo identification. To RSVP for this event, contact Maria Njoku at (703) 614-1538 or by email at maria.a.njoku.civ@mail.mil no later than July 6.
