The 'America the Beautiful Tour' comes to Wharton Center

The “America the Beautiful Tour” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. July 30 at the Wharton Center.

The show features classics from 41 years of radio history including Garrison Keillor and special guest, Sarah Jarosz. The tour will celebrate Keillor’s popular radio show, “A Prairie Home Companion.”

In 1974, Keillor hosted the first broadcast of “A Prairie Home Companion.’ Today, about 4 million listeners on more than 600 public radio stations tune in to the show each week.

Jarosz’s debut album, “Song Up In Her Head,” was released in 2009. The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will travel to all but four locations on the 30-city tour.

The show will also include pianist Richard Dworsky, sound effects man Fred Newman, The Radio Rhubarb Band, fiddling Richard Kriehn, guitarist Chris Siebold, Guy Noir, Private Eye, audience chorale and poetry declamation.
